FlightHub Employees Benefit From New Green Perks At Work

Canadian online travel agency FlightHub is implementing some new and very environmentally friendly perks in the workplace for employees. Outside of what are now becoming standard perks like health, dental, and life insurance, FlightHub is pushing new green initiatives that not only have the employee in mind, but also the environment.

Introduced recently, FlightHub offers its employees an electric and hybrid car subsidy. Essentially what this entails is a 50 per cent subsidy on select electric and hybrid car leases, allowing employees who are on the fence about hybrid or electric cars to truly consider the move from a financial standpoint. FlightHub CEO Matt Keezer believes this perk lowers the barrier of entry for purchasing more environmentally friendly vehicles saying “buying an electric or hybrid car can be a large investment,” adding “we want to make it easier for our employees to take the step towards buying these vehicles for the sake of the environment.”

In addition to the electric and hybrid car subsidy, FlightHub also has some other very green friendly work policies and perks. This includes transit subsidies for buses and trains, which Keezer says is the companies most popular and widely-used perk, and another transit subsidy for Summer bike rental programs. In addition to this, FlightHub recently moved to a paper-free human resources system called BambooHR which greatly reduces paper waste in the office and reduces the workload on operations staff. Keezer says FlightHub is constantly looking for new ways to incorporate green initiatives in the office saying “FlightHub reviews its policies all the time and we like to think we are a very forward thinking technology company that doesn’t just push the limits of what we do here on the tech side, but also environmentally by introducing green friendly policies and perks for our employees.

FlightHub is one of North America’s largest online travel agencies and has served over one million Canadians annually since its launch in 2012. FlightHub is the product of Momentum Ventures in Montreal, Quebec and employs over 400 people worldwide.
