Victoria Shamrocks edge Coquitlam Adanacs in WLA thriller

The first-place showdown in the Western Lacrosse Association lived up to billing Saturday night in Coquitlam.

The Victoria Shamrocks (8-2) recorded a dramatic 10-9 victory over the host Adanacs (8-4) as defender Dallas Wade scored with one second remaining in the third period into an empty net after the A’s had gambled by pulling their goaltender looking for the winning goal.

Larson Sundown had tied the game for the Shamrocks with 29 seconds remaining. Rhys Duch led Victoria with two goals and four assists while Brad McCulley scored a hat-trick. Sundown scored twice and Wade, Jacob Ruest and Tyler Burton once each. Dylan Watson had four goals for Coquitlam.

The Shamrocks are in New Westminster to play the Salmonbellies on Thursday night before meeting the Burnaby Lakers at the Q Centre next Sunday.
