The Victoria Highlanders have signed their first two players for the 2019 United Soccer League-2 (former Premier Development League) season.

Goteh Ntignee of Westcastle United, recently the youngest MVP in Vancouver Island Soccer League Jackson Cup finals history at age 16, will play summer soccer with the Highlanders.

Forward Victory Shumbusho, the 2017 Canada West conference rookie of the year with the UBC Thunderbirds, was also signed by the Highlanders. He had six goals and two assists in 13 games in his sophomore season last year for conference champion and U Sports powerhouse T-birds.

“Victory is a player who can definitely add goals to our team,” said Highlanders head coach Thomas Niendorf. “He has good pace, he is powerful and he can be a real handful. He is an attacking player with good defensive habits and willingness to do the dirty work in the game.”

The Highlanders open May 10 at Centennial Stadium against Lane United of Eugene, Oregon.
