Victoria Highlanders right at home for start to season

The Victoria Highlanders will open the United Soccer League’s League 2 (formerly the Premier Development League) with four consecutive home games. Seven of their first eight games will be at Centennial Stadium on the University of Victoria campus.

The opener is May 10 against Lane United of Eugene, Oregon, followed by games at Centennial Stadium against Portland Timbers U-23 on May 19, Seattle Sounders U-23 on May 26 and Lane United on June 2.

The first Highlanders road game is June 7 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby against the TSS Rovers.

That is followed by three games at Centennial Stadium on June 16 against Timbers U-23, and June 21 and June 23 against Calgary Foothills. The Highlanders close out their home campaign July 5 against TSS Rovers.

The home games are all on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

Five of Victoria’s final six games are on the road, concluding July 12 and July 14 in Calgary against the Foothills.

This will be the Highlanders’ 10th season in USL League 2, previously known as the PDL. There are six teams this season, including the Highlanders, in the USL League 2 Northwest Division. The Highlanders finished fifth last season.

The club said season tickets will go on sale soon for the 2019 season.
