UVic men sharp in Vikes Shootout

The University of Victoria was the host with the most. The men’s golf team won its own Vikes Shootout by 16 strokes on Tuesday at Cordova Bay. The Vikes had a two-round 21-over-par total of 291-290—581, based on the top-five golfers counting.

The University of Victoria was the host with the most.

The men’s golf team won its own Vikes Shootout by 16 strokes on Tuesday at Cordova Bay.

The Vikes had a two-round 21-over-par total of 291-290—581, based on the top-five golfers counting. The UBC Thunderbirds were second at 597 and the Ottawa Gee Gees third at 604. Rounding out the field was Corban University at 607, University of Manitoba Bisons at 619, Corban-B at 625, University of Alberta Golden Bears at 633, Lethbridge Pronghorns at 646 and University of Calgary Dinos at 648.

Josh Miller of UVic was dominant in winning the individual men’s title with a 4-under 69-67—136, which was nine strokes better than runners-up Carter Lewis of Ottawa and Aaron Seabrook of Corban University at five-over 145s.

Meanwhile, the UBC Thunderbirds won the women’s Vikes Shootout, also at Cordova Bay, with a 41-over two-day total of 617. UVic was second at 645 and Manitoba third at 696. That was followed by Corban at 704, Ottawa at 708, Calgary at 792 and Lethbridge at 925.

Esther Lee of UBC captured the women’s individual crown with a 10-over, two-day total of 154. Thunderbirds teammate Kate Johnston was second at 155 and Quinn Fitzgerald of UVic third at 156.
