The Victoria Junior Premier Eagles capped off a club record 33-win regular season by also capturing the B.C. Junior Premier Baseball League playoff title over the weekend in Whalley.

The Junior Eagles went 5-0 in the post-season to win their first B.C. Junior Premier League championship to add to the B.C. Premier League title the organization won in 2013.

Dave Auger’s Junior Eagles swept the Mid-Island Junior Pirates in the first round of the playoffs to advance to the Final Five as the second seed. The Eagles beat the Langley Blaze 8-4 and White Rock Tritons 9-5 before pounding out 10 hits to upend the top-seed North Delta Blue Jays 13-6 in the championship final. Julian Cull was named MVP of the championship game.

The core of the Eagles team returns next year to host the 2020 B.C. Junior Premier championship tournament.

The Eagles players and coaches will be honoured prior to the start of the Victoria HarbourCats’ playoff game Wednesday evening at Wilson’s Group Stadium at Royal Athletic Park.
