Island rink into semis at U-18 provincials

The Island rink, which includes third Brooke Reintjes, second Michaela Morrill and lead Delaena Reintjes, will meet the Jensen Taylor rink from Royal City and Tunnel Town in the semi today at 1 p.m.

The winner will play top qualifier Kaila Buchy of Kimberley in the championship game Sunday at 2 p.m. Buchy, Douglas and Taylor were all 5-2 in the round robin.

In the B.C. U-18 boys’ provincials, also taking place at Juan de Fuca, Hayato Sato of Royal City (6-1) has advanced to Sunday’s championship final at 10 a.m.

The Eric Colwell rink from Vernon, Kamloops and Invermere (5-2) has advanced to today’s semifinal game at 1 p.m. Colwell will meet the winner of a late-finishing Friday night play-in game between the Connor Deane rink of Tunnel Town, Nanaimo and Duncan (5-2) and the Alex Duncan-Wu rink of Royal City and Port Moody (5-2).
