Claremont graduates picked in NLL draft

Four graduates from the Claremont Secondary lacrosse academy were selected in the first two rounds of the 2021 pro National Lacrosse League draft in Buffalo on Saturday.

Four graduates from the Claremont Secondary lacrosse academy were selected in the first two rounds of the 2021 pro National Lacrosse League draft in Buffalo on Saturday.

Max Wilson went 12th overall in the first round to Halifax and Tom Vaeson 14th to Buffalo. Caleb Kueber was selected 17th overall and Liam Phillips 27th overall in the second round, both by Panther City of suburban Dallas.

Wilson, Kueber and Phillips play for the Victoria Junior Shamrocks and Vaeson for the Nanaimo Junior Timbermen.

Junior Shamrocks goaltender Adam Bland went 53rd overall to Calgary.

Jon Donville of Brooklin, Ont., went first overall to Panther City. — Times Colonist
