Chiefs blank Grizzlies in Chilliwack

The Victoria Grizzlies are really beginning to dislike the ­Chilliwack Coliseum.

The Chilliwack Chiefs blanked the Grizzlies 3-0 in B.C. Hockey League action ­Friday night in the Fraser Valley. ­Victoria is now 0-3 in Chilliwack after losing both games at the BCHL Showcase last month.

On Friday, the Grizzlies dropped their second consecutive game in falling to 8-5 on the season. The Chiefs moved to 6-6 as Ethan Bowen scored twice and Liam Tanner once for ­Chilliwack before 2,251 fans at the Coliseum.

Grant Riley needed to make only 17 saves for the shutout. The far busier Kyle Kelsey made 36 saves in goal for the Grizzlies.

Chilliwack was 0-5 on the power play and the Grizzlies 0-3.

Andrew Amousse received a check-to-the-head major ­penalty, the third incurred by the ­Grizzlies this season. The first two, to defenceman Isack Bandu and forward Matthew Wood, ­netted five-game suspensions each. Bandu returns tonight in Penticton against the Vees (9-2) and Wood on Sunday afternoon in Trail against the Smoke ­Eaters (7-4-1) as the Grizzlies continue their road trip.
