A familiar face will be back behind the Victoria Shamrocks’ bench next season.

Bob Heyes will be returning as head coach of the Shamrocks for a seventh season in 2019, the Western Lacrosse Association club has announced.

Returning with Heyes will be his entire coaching staff of defensive coach Art Webster, offensive coach Mike Simpson and video coach John Hamilton.

Heyes has put together a record of 91-42-3 since taking over as Shamrocks bench boss in 2012, with three regular-season WLA first-place finishes, three league championships and a Mann Cup national championship.

Heyes played in goal for the Shamrocks from 1989 to 2000, earning a Mann Cup as a player in 1997.

“We are lucky to have an amazing coaching staff that puts a ton of work into the club, and we have seen that work translate into results over the last few seasons,” said Shamrocks GM Chris Welch, in a statement.

The Shamrocks will celebrate their 70th anniversary season in the WLA in 2019.
