That’s one way to warm up a cool fall Sunday.

Amateur Alex Cordero won the third event in the Bayview Place Performance Tour with a sizzling 4-under-par 67 at Highland Pacific.

The top three overall finishers in the 15-event Tour will earn exemptions into the 2019 Mackenzie Tour-PGA Tour Canada’s Bayview Place DC Bank Open in June at Uplands Golf Club.

“It is a good feeling to get a win and be in the conversation for the exemption for the Bayview Place Open this summer,” said Cordero.

“It is also nice to post a solid round at my home course.”

Finishing two shots back with a 69 and alone in second spot was another amateur player — Zach Anderson of Nanaimo. Pros Evan Holmes from the Euro Challenge Tour and Mac Keats of Bear Mountain both shot 70 to tie for third place.

Curtis McCormac of Gorge Vale, Brad Liptrot of Olympic View, Nat Ollis of Cordova Bay and Bradley Morris of Salt Spring Island rounded out the top five and ties at 71.
