You must see these five guys sing goodbye to Target (video)

Former employees bid a musical farewell to Target Canada.

While driving past the Hillside mall on the weekend, I noted to my young passenger, 8, that the signs were down at the Target store.

"Why?"

I explained they didn't sell enough stuff to make any money. (But I made it sound all smart and businessy.)

He wondered if all the Target stores in Victoria were closed.

"All of them in Canada," I explained.

"That's a huge waste," he said, although he did later acknowledge that the few times he had been in the store, there weren't many shoppers.

With the signs gone and nothing but the red facades to remind us that they were ever here, Target is gone from its Hillside and Tillicum locations.

As a tribute, five guys working at the Tillicum store put together this video:

Semisonic - Closing Time (Target Edition)

A little musical send off, with what we had available.

Posted by Evan Holbein on Sunday, April 12, 2015

It was posted by Evan Holbein to Facebook and also identifies five other guys as: Eric Deibert, Liam McDonald, Liam James Kelly (who knows two guys named Liam?), Kyle Vanderberg and Brady Zomer. One of the six is obviously working the camera.

Evan's post reads: "A little musical sendoff with what we had available."

It was posted Sunday night, but Evan's Facebook page reveals that he started work at the slightly less troubled Best Buy on April 1.

Congrats on the new job, Evan, and thanks for the video!
