You love your pets — and we have the photos to prove it

I think what is most remarkable about the photos sent to the Times Colonist by our readers is the abundant use of exclamation points. You don't just love your pets. You love your pets! Second is the uniqueness of your animals' names.

I think what is most remarkable about the photos sent to the Times Colonist by our readers is the abundant use of exclamation points.

You don't just love your pets.

You love your pets!

Second is the uniqueness of your animals' names. Among the 200 (yes, 200!) pet photos now in our gallery, there is only one repeated name. (I stand to be corrected.)

It's an indication of how special each of these critters is to the human who owns it. You look into those big eyes and you see a personality and choose a name that befits.

Many readers have also taken to Twitter and Instagram to share their love, using #petstc.

And there are some cute animals on display.

Or my favourite (this one's mine):

The photographs have been coming in bunches and we are doing our best to keep up with the demand. Things have slowed a little and, naturally, sooner or later we may have to cut things off.

Until then, it's a celebration of dogs and cats and hamsters and guinea pigs and lizards and ferrets and birds. (I'm still waiting for our first fish. And Samuel would love it if we had a bunch of snakes. Or dragons.)
