Vancouver Island continues to be a stronghold for the B.C. NDP, according to a new poll from Angus Reid released Friday.

The full poll results are here. The online survey of 808 people has a margin of error of +/- 3.5 per cent, 19 times out of 20.

Angus Reid now puts the NDP at 44 per cent support on the Island, compared to 28 per cent for the B.C. Liberals, 21 per cent for the B.C. Greens, six per cent for the B.C. Conservatives and two per cent for independents/other.

The NDP support is roughly the same as seen in previous Angus Reid polls on April 26 and April 16.

The B.C. Liberals, who started the election campaign at 19 per cent on the Island and trailed the Greens, have seen a 10-point increase in three weeks on the Island.

The Conservatives have deflated from a high of 11 per cent to now sit at six per cent.

The Greens have held steady.

Province wide, the latest Angus Reid numbers show the NDP's lead over the Liberals has shrunk from 14 points to seven points, as the race tightens up going into the last week of campaigning.

The provincial election is May 14.
