The B.C. Anesthesiologists' Society has asked B.C. Supreme Court for intervenor status in a lawsuit challenging B.C.'s ban on private health insurance.

Non-voters the problem, not the system

Re: " System doesn't encourage young people to vote," Sept. 22, and "Voting system change needed," Sept. 23. It is disturbing to see two letter-writers attempting to justify not exercising the right to vote.

Proportional voting complex, confusing

It's evident by the numerous letters recently submitted in favour of electoral reform that the proponents of the single transferrable voting system have orchestrated a campaign to once again breathe life into a dead issue.

Canada doesn't need another Trudeau

Re: "Trudeaumania gets 21st-century update," Sept. 27. I certainly hope that Canadians are not prepared for another run of Trudeaumania. The last time it happened, it left our country deeply in debt and the laughing stock of the world.

User-pay model not the way to go

Re: "Driver should pay cost of the roads," Sept. 27. The argument that drivers don't pay the full cost of roads shouldn't carry much weight.

Dix foreshadows B.C.'s future

Re: "Dix says he would dump balancedbudget law," Sept. 28. We have to thank NDP leader Adrian Dix for making a clear statement about how he is planning to manage finances in B.C. if his party forms the next government.

Suggestions to improve B.C. Ferries service

The other weekend, on the ferry between Nanaimo and Horseshoe Bay, a nice woman handed me a piece of paper, told me she was from a research company and wanted my opinion on the ferry service.

Trudeau should support marijuana legalization

Re: "Trudeaumania gets 21st-century update," Sept. 27. If Justin Trudeau really wants to win the leadership of the Liberal Party and ultimately form the governing party, he needs to promise to end the prohibition of marijuana. The Union of B.C.
