Regarding the advice to wrap a hummingbird feeder in Christmas lights: I was told by a sad bird lover that this practice led to very unfortunate results.
Something about electricity and liquids in contact. No more need be said.
Changing the feeders or wrapping them in socks or old woollen mittens is better and safer.
