Re: “Malahat bypass in watershed hits wall,” Feb. 20.

So some Victoria and Saanich councillors continue to play games about a Malahat bypass for use at times when accidents close the highway. “No” is the only word they condone, even without a review of options.

Since games appear to be in vogue with this group, and as a regular user of the highway, I have developed a new game for Victoria-area residents who think that this approach is acceptable: “The Malahat Shuffle.”

The game involves the random closing at any time of day or night of a four-block area in Greater Victoria. Those area residents can neither leave their homes nor return to them. Those who want to go home can either drive around their four-block areas for 3 1/2 hours (equivalent to us driving around via Port Renfrew) or can go to a spot 10 kilometres from home and sit there for four hours, much as we are being asked to continue to do.

By the way, the game will continue on random days and months until a solution is found. Will this new game catch on?
