Tax will help solve major problems

The high cost of housing and homelessness are two of the most serious problems we face in British Columbia. Finance Minister Carole James and our New Democrat government are to be congratulated for bringing in a tax on property speculation that will help reduce the number of empty homes, often owned out of province or being used to launder criminal assets.

We already have to sign a form to claim our homeowner’s grant, and five minutes to fill out a second form is a very light burden to help achieve more affordable housing for our less fortunate neighbours.
