Re: “Island MDs, nurses making a difference in Guatemala,” March 10.
It was with great interest (and pride) that I read the article about the team from Victoria’s hospitals that went to Guatemala to provide care and teaching.
I know from my former role as chief of surgery for the Island that they do this with no compensation and that work piles up for them to do when they get home. As well as providing care, these teams from Victoria and the region bring innovation and equipment that is beyond the meagre budget of these hospitals.
Great work, and I am so proud of my former colleagues.
