Scrap plan for bigger cruise ships

Along with the steel pilings going overboard in rough seas, the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority should deep-six its plan to extend docking for extra-large cruise ships and concentrate on developing land-based power so these ships don’t have to run their engines while docked.

That would give the folks in James Bay a reprieve from the exhaust that washes over them during cruise-ship season. This is an opportunity for GVHA to listen to the voices of the people who have suffered health consequences from toxins associated with burning fossil fuels.
