Programs support kids in crisis situations

It’s always unfortunate when emotions trump fact, as witnessed in Sunday’s letter. It’s OK to have opinions, but to use one’s hatred to mislead the public is pathetic.

Our government supports innocent children through programs such as Education Cannot Wait, a global fund that ensures no child or young person misses out on their education when they are victimized by crisis situations caused by wars, terrorist attacks and living in refugee camps.

International Development Minister Marie-Claude Bibeau said the $50 million is part of $400 million in aid previously announced — and budgeted for — during the G7 Summit in Charlevoix, Que., in June. Education Cannot Wait is one of the only funds that specifically helps girls’ education in places such as refugee camps and war zones.

And who could possibly be against that?
