Re: “Vegan firefighter claims human rights violated,” May 22.

It seems from the story on the Ontario forest firefighter claiming employer discrimination against his vegan beliefs that its author and editors along the way believe that “secular” means “religious” and that, therefore, “non-secular” can be appropriately applied to the expansion of Ontario’s Human Rights Code in 2015 to cover “non-religious belief systems that like religion, substantially influence a person’s identity, worldview and way of life.” The opposite is true.
