Fear not, Saanich, if you amalgamate with the city, you effectively become the city.
Saanich has almost 30,000 more citizens than Victoria (119,000 vs. 92,000), so you can swiftly vote out those councillors you don’t like. We tried to do that last election. For example, 60 per cent of us voted against our current mayor, but too many candidates split the vote, with disastrous results.
Not only would you not have to suffer some of the inanities we now go through, but you could spread some reason and stability into the core, which is currently out of your control (and ours, too).
