If horse-drawn carriages are to be banned from Victoria streets on the grounds they are, according to city Coun. Ben Isitt, “outdated methods of transportation,” then what, pray tell, are bicycles?

The horse-drawn carriages provide jobs and are part of the slower-paced ambience that people come here to enjoy. The horses are draft animals bred for pulling, and are well taken care of. When following them, the only caveat is: Just don’t be what you see.

Their safety record greatly exceeds that of vehicles, and probably bicycles, too. No fossil fuels are involved and their “emissions” are environmentally friendly.
