Malahat commitment is encouraging

Re: “B.C. looks at ways to end Malahat delays,” Jan. 10. The article citing the B.C. government’s intention to provide convenient alternative access routes when the Malahat is impassable is excellent news.

The article citing the B.C. government’s intention to provide convenient alternative access routes when the Malahat is impassable is excellent news.

Another reason for doing so is the likely event of an earthquake. Rock falls, mud slides and a partial collapse of the Malahat during an earthquake could happen. Then what?

Air access seems to shut down at the slightest opportunity and as for marine, well, those facilities would be affected.

This development is encouraging. Our population growth and economy require it.
