Victoria councillor Ben Isitt could not have chosen a more appalling time than the 75th anniversary of D Day to pass a motion in Victoria council suggesting the military cover costs for military-related events in Victoria.
Apparently Passchendaele and Juno Beach must be banished from memory along with John A. Macdonald and Christmas.
To borrow a favourite term from my deceased father, veteran of three campaigns during the last war: ”They “haven’t the foggiest notion” of why they live so well. The wealth and freedom and luxury they have inherited, the very things that allow them to protest and myopically socially construct, are all based on institutions they are so zealously trying to tear down.
