I would have two questions for Nathan Cullen on Bill C-48, the West Coast tanker ban.

Why only the West Coast? Tankers bring oil from Nigeria and Saudi Arabia to the East Coast and also up the St. Lawrence River.

Why are these coast lines not worth protecting?

Secondly, what about the American tankers bringing oil from Alaska? They sail a few hundred feet outside our territorial waters and then make a left turn into the Strait of Juan de Fuca delivering oil to the three huge oil refineries in Washington.

The number of American sailings is 10 times what the number of Canadian sailings would be. But we are fine with that?
