Interchange work pollutes Colquitz River

I appreciate the complexity of the construction of the McKenzie interchange, but the fact that it continues to generate serious water pollution in the Colquitz River and Portage Inlet has become outrageous.

The Colquitz River is a valued, urban, salmon- and trout-bearing watercourse with decades of serious effort to keep it this way. The Colquitz estuary is surprisingly wild and beautiful and flows through a valuable and valued municipal park, Saanich’s Cuthbert Holmes Park.

Moreover, the Colquitz estuary and Portage Inlet have been part of the historic Victoria Harbour Migratory Bird Sanctuary since 1923.

This project is degrading our precious, urban, natural environment significantly. One has to question the competence of those delivering this project.
