Historian seeks data on Sidney RCAF veteran

My interest is researching military and civil aircraft crashes in my local area of County Durham, England, and I am in the process of writing a book.

My interest is researching military and civil aircraft crashes in my local area of County Durham, England, and I am in the process of writing a book.

I am trying to trace any relations, a photograph or flying logbook of a Second World War RCAF Air Gunner Thomas Lloyd Kidd, who came from Sidney.

While training in the Royal Air Force in No. 78 Squadron, he was in a flying accident on Oct. 16, 1941. He was in a Whitley bomber and it crashed on making a forced landing in a field not far from its base at RAF Middleton St. George. Of the four aircrew on board, only Thomas escaped from having injuries. The other three survived, but were seriously burned as the aircraft caught fire.

Thomas was born in 1918 and he passed away in 2007 in Saanich Peninsula Hospital.
