Don’t exempt Oak Bay from speculation tax

It’s very difficult to understand why the mayor of Oak Bay thinks that the speculation tax should be omitted for his municipality when there is such an extreme shortage of housing here. People cannot find a place to live, and employers cannot hire people for this reason.

Clearly under these dire circumstances, it is more important that people live here full-time and not just a few months of the year. The provincial government should not back down in this instance and play favourites to those who have second homes in this province, as they can afford to pay for this tax anyway.
