Re: “Hunting the way to control geese,” editorial, Jan 16.
The editorial says, in part, about choosing the Canada goose as a symbol of Canada that: “Let’s hope the goose is not chosen. As a symbol for our country, we wouldn’t want a noisy, aggressive bird that damages the environment and stirs up hostility by settling in large numbers where it’s not wanted.”
Let’s look at it from the facts of what the symbolic meaning of the Canada goose is. They are known for their bravery, loyalty (does not leave one of its kind behind), teamwork, confidence, protection, fellowship, communication, determination and monogamy.
Heck no, we would not want Canada to be thought of in that manner.
