I am so grateful I live in a society that is able to look at its leaders in a multi-dimensional way. I am grateful for the wisdom of the men who brought this beautiful country together from sea to shining sea.
I recently watched a movie on the CBC website called Birth of a Country that showed me our first prime minister in a whole new light. A young, dashing, not-afraid-of-a-bar-fight, highly intelligent man. I can’t imagine the values that surrounded him and everyone else in that era, but thank you, John A. Macdonald and all your cohorts, for setting the foundation to give us the freedom to take down your statue.
