Building a better Christmas lights tour

It's almost that time of year when we bundle up the kids, the dog and the old folks and hit the road in search of twinkling seasonal bliss. Christmas lights on our neighbour's home that create "oooohs" and "aaaaahs" are a Christmas season staple.

It's almost that time of year when we bundle up the kids, the dog and the old folks and hit the road in search of twinkling seasonal bliss.

Christmas lights on our neighbour's home that create "oooohs" and "aaaaahs" are a Christmas season staple.

You could drive around aimlessly looking for these displays, or your friendly local newspaper could provide a handy guide, both online and in print.

The Times Colonist has been collecting addresses (and this year, photos) for our annual map, to be published in print on Sunday. Addresses are also being added to our online map as they arrive (see below).

This year, we've offered participants the option of including a photo of their display. It's good for homeowner pride, but it can also help someone in James Bay decide if they want to drive to Sidney to check out some Christmas lights.

To make the map as effective as can be, we need your help. Your addresses, to be more specific. Don't think your display isn't good enough for our map — it is.

The online map (main page is here) will be continually updated as long as readers continue to send us their addresses and photos (which will also be added to an online gallery).

To be in the print map, you better get your address to us by Wednesday.

Email your addresses and photos here: christmaslights@timescolonist.com
