Victoria’s Langley Street Loo near Bastion Square has been voted Canada’s Best Bathroom in the third annual online poll, sponsored by Cintas Canada.

Saying he was flush with pride Mayor Dean Fortin accepted the plaque from Rod Farquharson, Cintas director of sales and operations.

Smiles and potty puns were the order of the day this morning as local politicians gathered near the public washroom to accept the award.

Perhaps setting the tone for the event was the city’s communications department, which rolled out the announcement (and added unexpected extra value) by wrapping its awards ceremony news release around rolls of toilet paper. And city councillors Chris Coleman and Charlayne Thornton-Joe sacrificed any hope of higher office by good-naturedly posing for media photographs while sitting on the privy.

Victoria beat out four other finalists to the throne.
