Woman pushed off cliff into Thetis Lake, police seek culprit

A 29-year-old woman was injured after being pushed over a 12-metre cliff into the waters of Thetis Lake, and West Shore RCMP are looking for the culprit.

It happened Sunday around 3:30 p.m., when the woman was hiking near the first beach cliff face. She encountered a group of three women she didn’t know who were drinking alcohol. She was looking over the cliff when someone pushed her from behind, sending her plunging into the water.

The three women are described as white and between 20 and 30 years old. Two had brown hair and one had blond hair. They were wearing bathing suits and sunglasses.

Police believe there might have been witnesses in the area, including a man who offered to help the victim.

The woman swam to shore and received medical attention for her injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the three women is asked to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264. Anonymous reports can be made by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
