Woman injured trying to put out brush fire near Dallas Road

A woman lighting a pipe near the beach along Dallas Road on Saturday accidentally set the cliff-side brush on fire. The Victoria Fire Department said the woman attempted to put the fire out by herself and suffered minor burns to her head.

A woman lighting a pipe near the beach along Dallas Road on Saturday accidentally set the cliff-side brush on fire.

The Victoria Fire Department said the woman attempted to put the fire out by herself and suffered minor burns to her head. She was attended by B.C. Ambulance paramedics on scene.

Reports of a fire near Cook Street came in about 1 p.m.

The fire department responded with two pump trucks, each with a crew of four.

The flames were quickly doused, but firefighters continued hosing the area for 90 minutes to prevent any flare-ups.
