Bus service for trips up-Island and to the Lower Mainland is coming back starting Friday.

The Wilson’s Group of Companies is gradually restarting services, with physical distancing in effect:

• The B.C. Ferries Connector, serving downtown Victoria to downtown Vancouver will run Friday through Monday.

• The Vancouver Island Connector service, running from downtown Victoria to Campbell River.

• Tofino Bus, providing a downtown Victoria link to Tofino and Ucluelet.

Additional weekday runs may be added later this summer, the company said in a Wednesday statement.

B.C. residents will receive a 25 per cent discount on tickets.

John Wilson, chief executive of the Wilson’s group, said: “As our province begins to reopen to domestic travel, we are starting to see a greater demand for some of our services.

“We are hopeful that with enough support from local travellers, as well as the continuation of government programs, that we can continue to operate well into the fall and winter.”

Seating will be spaced out with one person per row or two from the same household, up to a maximum capacity of 50 per cent.

As on B.C. Ferries, passengers are expected to wear a face covering for their mouth and nose if they can not maintain a two-metre distance from each other.

No food and drink is allowed on board and washrooms are closed.
