West Shore RCMP are recommending charges against a man they believe was trying to trade firearms for street drugs.
The crime reduction unit started investigating the trafficking of weapons and ammunition on the West Shore on March 2.
A search of a home in Langford uncovered three firearms and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. All were stored in an unsafe manner, said Const. Nancy Saggar.
Police officers seized an altered semi-automatic rifle with a prohibited 21-round magazine.
The investigation will continue, Saggar said. The RCMP plans to recommend charges of weapons trafficking and unsafe storage of a firearm to the Crown.
