West Shore RCMP have released a composite sketch of a suspect in a 2019 sexual assault near the 300 block of Cooper Road, off Admirals Road.
The 22-year-old victim was walking home from a house party about 3 a.m. on April 14 when she was assaulted.
West Shore RCMP Const. Nancy Saggar said the incident has been “obviously quite traumatizing” for the victim.
“We do believe that she was the intended target and that this was an isolated incident,” Saggar said. “Our Serious Crimes Unit has gone through many different leads and followed up on different avenues of investigation. However, we feel that there’s a need to release the composite sketch that has been done up of this male suspect.”
Saggar said the suspect is described as Indigenous, in his early 20s, about six feet tall and 170 to 180 pounds with an average build and dark brown or black hair. He was wearing a bandana “folded quite neatly” across his forehead, she said.
“I do want to maybe see if we can jog somebody’s memory,” Saggar said. “If you happened to be in a vehicle driving by around that time in the middle of the night, maybe you noticed somebody or a couple of people walking on Cooper Road near the 300 block.”
The sketch is “very distinctive,” she said. “So if you know who this could be, call us.”
Saggar said some promising early leads in the case did not pan out. Calling for information now and releasing the sketch will hopefully revive the case, she said. Police ask anyone with information to call West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
