A temporary walk-in vaccination clinic to administer first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine opened in Nanaimo on Tuesday.

The clinic, at Woodgrove Centre, will be open about 2 to 6 p.m. daily until Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The clinc’s operating hours and closing date are subject to change.

The clinic is for first doses only, Island Health said. Those who want a second dose of COVID-19 vaccine are asked to book through the province’s Get Vaccinated website or call centre.

The temporary clinic space in Woodgrove Centre is in the former Le Chateau store at the north end of the mall.

Starting today, a temporary pop-up clinic will be open at Cowichan Lake Sports Arena, 311 South Shore Rd.

The clinic will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, and noon to 6:30 p.m. on June 29 and 30. Only first doses will be administered. Registration is encouraged but not required.

Island Health will continue to provide a limited number of first-dose walk-in slots each day at existing mass-immunization clinics — including one at Beban Park in Nanaimo — and expand the number of appointments available for booking.

To register for a vaccine or book an appointment, go to gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated or call 1-833-838-2323.
