Victoria police arrested a suspect after responding to a pair of robberies, including one in which the robber claimed to have a weapon.

The first robbery took place about 10:15 a.m. Thursday at a business in the 400-block of Cook Street, near Fairfield Road. A man said he had a weapon and demanded cash, then fled with the money.

Several officers and a police dog were deployed, but the suspect was not immediately found.

Just before 5 p.m. the same day, officers responded to a report of a similar robbery in the 2100-block of Quadra Street, between Pembroke Street and Queens Avenue. A suspect was located and arrested. The investigation into the robberies is continuing.
