Victoria police arrested a man armed with a metal pipe early Sunday.
About 5 a.m., an off-duty officer was walking near police headquarters on Caledonia Avenue when he was approached by a man with a pipe. The man advanced on the officer, who was able to get inside a vehicle until more officers arrived.

The man was arrested and taken to police cells. He was later released with a court date.
A charge of assault with a weapon is being recommended.
No one was hurt.
