Arson spree in Saanich near Camosun’s Lansdowne campus

Saanich police say an arson spree in the area of Camosun College’s Lansdowne campus early Monday included a fire that did extensive damage to three vehicles in a maintenance compound at the college.

Saanich police say an arson spree in the area of Camosun College’s Lansdowne campus early Monday included a fire that did extensive damage to three vehicles in a maintenance compound at the college.

Reports came in of more fires in the 3100-block of Service Street, near Lansdowne Middle School, with garbage cans being set ablaze.

Investigators from the Saanich police and fire departments are working on the case. Police are asking to hear from people who noticed anything suspicious in the vicinity from about 5 a.m. to 7 a.m.

It is believed the suspect or suspects might have been walking through the area, and anyone with security cameras or doorbell devices is asked to look through the video.
