Seventeen vehicles were spray-painted with blue/grey paint in Campbell River overnight Saturday.

Campbell River RCMP said the first report of a damaged vehicle came in about 8 a.m. Sunday.

Officers subsequently found the paint on a string of vehicles along Springbok Road, from Gazelle Road to Robron Road.

Const. Maury Tyre said police would like to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything between 1 and 8 a.m. Sunday, and would also like to see footage from video cameras in the area.

“Also, if someone has noticed someone that likely isn’t exposed to aerosol paints in their work or art life and they have some on their clothes or hands, that would be a worthwhile tip, for sure,” he said.

Tyre said “pointless acts of vandalism” in central and southern Campbell River have been on the rise over the past few weekends, with thousands of dollars worth of damage done.

“In the case of the windows, fences and some broken lawn lights, we know for sure that the suspects range from their young teens to their early 20s and have absolutely no justification whatsoever,” he said.

Police ask anyone with information to call Campbell River RCMP at 250-286-6221.
