Vandalism to a manhole in Doumac Park in Cordova Bay caused sewage to pool, prompting crews to put up yellow tape and warning signs advising people not to enter Ravens Creek.
The manhole lid was lifted and rocks and debris thrown into the opening, which subsequently clogged a pipe, a District of Saanich statement said.
Sewage does not appear to have reached the creek, but the municipality’s policy is to post notifications for 30 days.
Crews have installed a silicone seal around the manhole to prevent vandalism.
