Cam Sullivan, 29, died on Dec. 17 in a workplace accident in Sooke. He was a tree faller.

A young Sooke father who died in a tree falling accident Monday is being remembered as kind, spontaneous, brilliant and funny, and a man who always put his family first.

Cam Sullivan died less than a month shy of his 30th birthday, doing what he loved, his friend Angus Danielson wrote on a fundraising site.

“He had a smile that was contagious and could light up a room,” wrote Danielson. “Cam shared a love for the outdoors and could quite often be found in the bush with his family and friends.”

The B.C. Coroners Service is investigating a death involving a man in his late 20s, strategic communications manager Andy Watson confirmed. “It was a workplace accident involving a tree that fell,” said Watson.

The accident happened at approximately 9 a.m. at a worksite on Eaglecrest Drive in Sooke.

The RCMP and WorkSafe B.C. are investigating.

Sullivan leaves behind his partner Katie and their daughter Vivian, whom he loved beyond words, wrote Danielson.

“He was so excited and proud to become a dad to his daughter who became his whole world.”
