The Trans-Canada Highway will close in both directions from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Saturday between Tillicum Road and the McKenzie interchange as crews install an overhead sign.

A detour will send traffic on an alternate route along Admirals Road, Gorge Road West and Tillicum Road.

Southbound traffic heading to McKenzie using the loop ramp will not be affected.

The Ministry of Transportation announced Sept. 18 that the $96-million interchange project was substantially done. Completion of elements like the loop ramp are leading to shorter commutes in both the morning and afternoon, the ministry said.

Work on the stormwater-treatment pond and final landscaping will go on through the fall.

The federal government contributed $32.6 million to the project and the province contributed $63.3 million.
