Southbound traffic on Highway 1 will b3 rerouted this weekend, the latest step in ongoing work at the McKenzie interchange.

Effective Saturday, the exit to McKenzie Avenue off Highway 1 will be accessed by way of a new loop ramp at the interchange. Signals will be turned off temporarily and traffic control personnel will be directing drivers while the changeover occurs.

Delays should be kept to a minimum as the changeover will take place overnight Friday and into Saturday morning, according to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure.

Traffic routing to the overpass on McKenzie Avenue and the Admirals Road exit will remain in the same location. Signs will direct drivers to the correct lane upon exiting the highway — staying right for Admirals Road or proceeding around the loop onto the overpass for McKenzie Avenue.

The $96-million project is scheduled to be completed this summer. The ministry says it will provide additional updates in the coming weeks as it nears completion.
