North Cowichan-Duncan RCMP were busier than usual on the weekend, removing six motorists suspected of impaired driving from the roads in a 24-hour period.

Police said the busy weekend was due in part to tips from the public about erratic drivers.

Four drivers were issued 90-day driving prohibitions and two were issued three-day prohibitions.

“Our officers are committed to keeping our roads safer. Thanks to timely reporting, and the quick response of our police officers, we were able to get six dangerous drivers off of our roadways this weekend,” said Sgt. Adam Tallboy, watch commander of the North Cowichan-Duncan detachment.

Tallboy encouraged anyone who suspects a driver of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol to report it to police.
