Times Colonist fish-farm stories earn Webster nomination

Amy Smart, a former Times Colonist reporter, has been nominated for a Jack Webster Award.

Reporter Amy Smart has been nominated for a Jack Webster Award for her stories on fish farming published in the Times Colonist last year.

Smart, who now works for the Canadian Press in Vancouver, was nominated in the feature/enterprise reporting category.

Her 3,500-word piece on the battle over open-pen salmon farms appeared in the Dec. 3 edition of the Times Colonist.

The Jack Webster Foundation announced finalists in 12 categories Tuesday. Winners will be announced Oct. 29 at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver.
